3 Books Every Coach and Entrepreneur Must Read (When They’re Ready to Grow Their Business)

I’m a book loving fiend! Yes, I write them, but I’m a super-consumer as well.

When I get a new book, it feels like I’ve made a new friend! Sometimes I hug them. (Well, not quite 😊

There are certain books I read more than once. These books influence my state of mind and how I do my coaching and entrepreneurship and in many ways my success.

With that in mind, I am making a bold statement.

Every coach and entrepreneur who wants to grow their business in the next 6 months should read these 3 Books… and even better – more than once.

Here are those three books.

1.Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life by Bob Proctor.

This book speaks to every person who’s ever asked, “How come hard work doesn’t feel enough to produce the results I was hoping for?”

Proctor realizes that most of us (Really all of us!) contain deep rooted self-sabotage mechanisms that operate at an unconscious level.

Your mind mechanism has been implanted from childhood. You likely don’t even remember you have it and how it got there to begin with.

However, the good news is that this “unconscious” mindset can and will change IF you go on a journey to replace faulty belief systems with new paradigms: new ways of thinking, imagining, and acting. New habits.

A key idea from the book: “Repetition creates awareness.”

Don’t just learn more stuff… go deep with the truth that’s needed to transform your mind. Read things every day for 30 days. Write your goals out daily. Speak to yourself. Stick things on your mirror or create popups on your phone.

  • “I’m building a company that operates all over the world.”

  • “I coach top leaders in my industry.”

  • “I am a leader in my field.”

  • “I love my clients deeply.”

As Proctor says, “Whatever you plant will grow.”

2.The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber

The subtitle: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It.”

Spoiler Alert: The E Myth is a fatal assumption that says:

“If you understand the technical work of a business, you understand a business that does that technical work.”

In other words, just because you bake great pies (what he calls being a “technician”) doesn’t make you a person equipped to build a great pie company.

Just because you’re a great coach or consultant, trainer doesn’t make you ready and able to grow a successful business.

However, you can learn how to develop the mindsets and systems of entrepreneurship and an entrepreneurial model to grow or even scales a business to become successful.

When you act as entrepreneur, you fulfill the need of a certain segment of customers in an innovative way.

When you act as entrepreneur, you learn and apply a way of looking at your business itself as its own product to be developed. You create and focus on your business model and even create an org chart--- even if you’re the sole employee right now.

Most importantly, when you act as entrepreneur, you intentionally build a team and employ the service of teammates who have gifts you don’t.

Like the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Which leads to vital book number three.

3. Who Not How by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy

Subtitle: The Formula to Achieve Bigger Goals Through Accelerating Teamwork.

This was my number one read in 2022!

It blows away the “stinkin thinkin” that says, “If I want something done, I need to do it myself.”

It also blows away the poverty mindset that says, “I can’t afford to pay someone else to coach me, advise me, do it for me or just with me…”

Too many of us have accepted a culture that says working in isolation is better and less risky.

When we get stuck, our next question can and must be “Who?”

WHO can help me achieve this?

The bigger the challenge, the more essential the WHO.

Then let the “Who do the How!”

This all starts with knowing your own unique super-powers, then building a team of others who have the super-powers that aren’t so super in you.

Let me know what you think. And share below a book or books that’s been transformational for you!

With you and for you!
