Something powerful happens when you voice your choice.
Call it being “held to the fire” or “the power of peer pressure.” Make failure a non-option.
Do you want to:
Grow your business… or just stay where you are?
Lose the 50 pounds… or stay overweight?
Run a marathon… or always wonder?
Write the book… or wish you would have?
Here are three things you can do to acheive your goals:
1. Get SUPER CLEAR on your truest desires.
In the Psalms we read, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalms 37:4) Guess what most people don’t typically know?
The desires of their own heart!!
Do you realize that even God cares about humans fulfilling the desires of their hearts? Pretty incredible if you think about it!
Most aren’t clear on what they want most. Love. Care deeply about. So, they create what Stanford Life Design professor Dave Evans calls “portfolio lives.”
Many dabble in this without clarity or intention.
So, simply ask those yourself: What do you want?
Then just listen.
2. WRITE DOWN exactly what you want
Dr. Gail Mathews of Dominican University found that people are 42% more likely to achieve a goal simply by writing them down!
Incredible, right? Just scribbling words on paper!
So why don’t more of us write down what we want??
Maybe we didn’t know the power of it. Maybe we’re afraid to fail and don’t want it on record.
Write down your goals and suddenly you'll realize your idea is now an achievable goal.
3. Create Space to SPEAK IT and CREATE ACCOUNTABILITY until the desire or goal is achieved! (Odds increased to 95%!)
How powerful is that?!!
95%? Almost seems like magic, right?
Well, according to the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) when a person speaks about their desire or goal to another person, the chances of successful completion go up to 65%.
AND, when they have a specific accountability meeting, a person can increase the odds by 95%!!!
Get Ready to Achieve Your Goals!
You can definitely work through the list above on your own, but I'd encourage you to take it one step further: Hire a coach. Coaches have what it takes to help others turn dreams into reality, desires into done, and goals into accomplishments. Potential into realized potential!
For anyone who’s ever wondered if transformational coaching is worth it… invite them to consider these studies and statistics. (Feel free to share them in your blog or email!)
Be sure to intentionally do numbers 1-3 with your coach. You’ve got desires and goals too, ya know!
Have a great day!
